Sign Up – Register with us for access. Membership is just £1 per year.

Browse – Check out our inventory to find what you need. Items are between £1 – £5 per week to hire.

Borrow & Return – Pick up your item and bring it back when you’re done.

1. Purpose of The Lending Shed

The Lending Shed exists to support the community by providing access to useful items at a low cost. Members are expected to use and return items responsibly to ensure the service benefits everyone.

2. Borrowing Terms

  • Eligibility: Borrowers must be registered members of The Lending Shed and agree to the borrowing policy. ID and proof of address will be required.
  • Loan Duration: Items can be borrowed for up to 7 days unless otherwise specified. The lending fee must be paid upfront.
  • Extension Requests: Extensions must be requested before the due date and are subject to availability.
  • Limits: Members may borrow up to 2 items at a time.

3. Care and Use

  • Borrowed items must be used for their intended purpose and handled with care.
  • Items should be returned clean, undamaged, and with all included parts or accessories.
  • Any issues, including damage or malfunction, must be reported immediately.

4. Returns

  • Timely Return: Items must be returned by the specified due date.
  • Return Location: Items should be returned to the designated drop-off point at YMCA Neath during operating hours.

5. Late or Non-Returns

  • A late fee of £5 per day per item will be charged for overdue items.
  • Members who fail to return items after 14 days will have borrowing privileges suspended until the item is returned or replaced.
  • YMCA Neath reserves the right to invoice the member for the full cost of replacement for non-returned items.

6. Fees

  • A fee (£2 – £5) will be charged per item per week.
  • Fees for damage, loss, or cleaning will be invoiced if applicable.

7. Community Accountability

  • Borrowing from The Lending Shed is a shared privilege. By borrowing items, you commit to helping us maintain this resource for others.
