At YMCA Neath, we believe in the power of community and green spaces to bring people together. Our Community Garden, known as ‘Gardd Y Pobl,’ is a testament to this vision. Once an underused area, it has been transformed into a thriving, welcoming space thanks to the dedication of our volunteers. Today, it stands as a haven for both people and wildlife, promoting wellbeing, sustainability and biodiversity.
A Space Transformed
With the hard work of local volunteers the garden has blossomed into a vibrant environment where people of all ages can connect with nature, grow their own produce and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of gardening.
Weekly Gardening Club
Every Thursday morning, our Gardening Club meets to tend to the garden, share skills and support one another. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a complete beginner, you are welcome to join us.
Enhancing Biodiversity
Funded by Neath Port Talbot Local Nature Partnership through the Welsh Government Local Places for Nature Scheme we have introduced a stunning living wall, enhancing the garden’s ability to support pollinators and other beneficial wildlife. This addition not only improves air quality but also creates a beautiful feature that showcases the importance of green spaces in urban areas.
